Join WBLM This Saturday for Walk to Defeat ALS in Portland
This Saturday teams from all over Maine will gather at Payson Park for the annual "Walk to Defeat ALS" around Back Bay in Portland. It starts at 9a. WBLM is cheering on all of the teams with special affection for the "Levasseur Strong" team.
Noel Levasseur was diagnosed with ALS aka Lou Gehrig's Disease in November of 2017 at the age of 50. He is a dear friend and brother to me that I have known since second grade at Hussey School in Augusta.
Noel has lost strength in his arms and hands. His speech is also affected. He doesn't dwell on that though. Noel and his wife Jen have continued to work tirelessly, advocating for the defeat of this terrible disease.
Here they are in DC with Maine Senator Angus King.
Listen to Noel in the BLM studio with me last year. I dare you not to be moved by this inspirational man. We hope you'll join our "village". After Noel chatted with me on BLM, we received numerous phone calls and messages from Blimpsters who had gotten choked up and teary listening to two old friends.
Donations can be made www.alsa.org.
We hope to see you on Saturday at Payson Park!
