Levasseur Strong

This Saturday teams from all over Maine will gather at Payson Park for the annual "Walk to Defeat ALS" around Back Bay in Portland. It starts at 9a. WBLM is cheering on all of the teams with special affection for the "Levasseur Strong" team.

May is ALS Awareness Month. In honor of that, your friends at WBLM would like to share with you this short, touching video from a lifelong Blimpster who was recently recognized as an ALS Association hero in Arizona. His name is Noel LeVasseur and he's not only a friend of the Blimp's, he's also one of my Augusta pals since childhood.

Noel has been very busy since the ALS fundraiser we helped with in his honor last March at the Calumet Club. Last week, they took a trip to Washington, DC and met with our Maine representatives to help further this important cause.

I asked Noel if he'd be willing to share his moving story of his battle against ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease on the air. He happily obliged. This is a gracious fella who's never at a loss for words.

If you live in the Augusta area, there's a benefit we're hoping you can attend at Le Club Calumet. It will be a night of cocktails, live music and a silent auction to raise awareness and to benefit Noel LeVasseur in his battle against ALS.
