Maine Dessert Restaurant Opening Soon
We were pumped to see the paper sign covering a window in Portland's Old Port that reads "Gross Confection Bar Coming Soon" while strolling down Exchange Street the other day.
Portland pastry chef Brant Dadaleares is taking indulgence to the next level with a dessert centered restaurant. He has been busy hosting sold-out pop-ups this summer along with getting the new brick and mortar location ready. We can't find an exact date for the opening, but you can bet we'll keep checking for updates!
Our city has a great national reputation as a foodie destination and is constantly getting rave reviews for all the amazing meals being served. What a great idea to focus on everyone's favorite part of dining, Dessert!
If this dessert looks Gross to you, it should. That's the point. According to the Gross Confection Bar Facebook page this here is "Bamboo steamed lemon cake, rhubarb, coconut, cherry, almond, mango." It's a beautiful mess that is making our mouths water.
Here's more about it from their Kickstarter page:
"Gross Confection Bar will be a dessert-focused restaurant and bar to be located in the heart of the Old Port district in Portland, Maine. Gross will provide a unique and consistent restaurant experience featuring an ever changing selection of high-quality artfully-plated desserts, cocktails, dessert wines, digestifs, and exceptional service. Gross will also provide a consistent selection of enrobed ganaches, fruit pates, bon-bon, entremets, late night savory snacks and desserts to go."
We can't wait to eat dessert first. Thank you Brant and congrats on your new home sweet home!
