It's so great to hear the birds sing their morning songs as we greet a new day in Maine. They are wicked sweet neighbors to have around. Do you sometimes look out your kitchen window, see a pretty bird hangin' out on your shrubbery, and wonder what kind it is? Are you maybe looking for a fun adventure this Saturday?

Then, a trip to Gray for the Backyard Birds exhibit at the Maine Wildlife Park should be on your weekend to-do list. According to their Facebook page, this will be the first special event of the season there and is scheduled from 11a-2p on May 4.

Here's everything you need to know before you go.

In case you aren't familiar, this isn't a zoo. It's a very special sanctuary run by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

It's so great to be able to see everything from moose and black bears to fish and more along the backyard birds. All in an environment as close to their natural habitat as can possibly be. The park is also hosted by wardens who are happy to answer any questions about the great outdoors in Maine and where all the wild things are.
