A story from FOX23Maine.com reports that Portland is considering turning the Munjoy Hill area into a historical district.

According to the article,  Jeff Levine, the director of Planning and Urban Development, said the move is based on based on months of surveys and analysis. Historic Preservation Manager Deb Andrews said in the article the initiative is necessary to preserve the city's history while maintaining growth.

Jay Norris, who is the president of the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization, said people are worried about their homes and not being able to paint or restore if the move goes through, according to the article.

City officials have stated there is still a lot of work and research to be done, and the next move will be to present the plan to the Historic Preservation board.
