Residents of the Springvale area of King and Rankin streets are being warned about a sick fox that may also have rabies which has been seen in the neighborhood.

According to the Press Herald, Sanford police have asked people living there to tell their children to be careful of any strange animals and to not approach any animal they don't know, especially wild animals. Children should go inside and tell their parents if they spot any wild animals.

In a Facebook post the Sanford Police Department says there have been two confirmed attacks by this fox on domestic cats in that area. They urge pet owners to make sure their pets are up to date on all rabies vaccines and talk to their vet about a booster vaccination. Also not to leave their pets outside unsupervised.
