These wicked cool Social Distance and Mask Up art are all over Portland these days. It's all pretty incredible and it's all created by local artists. This fantastic public health art initiative is the brainchild of the fine folks at Creative Portland, the official arts agency for the City of Portland
If you are walking near Portland's beautiful Eastern Prom anytime soon, be ready to ROCK. Hella Rocks that is. Hella Rocks a super-cool rock garden that is brand new to the Prom. The folks at USM are behind this cool new art installation.
Reason #4298 that we love Portland? Amazing public art. And we can thank the folks at Creative Portland for a new public art initiative for three Bus Stop Shelters. The art celebrates Portland's racially diverse community and two of the three shelters are done by immigrant artists. The bus shelter art installation is funded in part by a $25,000 matching grant from the National Endowment for the Arts as part of the NEA’s "Our Town" initiative.
It's more than just concerts and business meetings that have gone virtual with the pandemic. Art exhibits have also gone virtual too! Sure, you can check out a virtual exhibit at the Lourve in Paris but we found a great one that has just started right here in Maine and is being put on by Creative Portland under the leadership of Dinah Minot. It's called "2020 Vision: Past, Present & Future" and it's very Maine and very cool
