WGME reports that the 8th Annual Miles for Mills 5K will be run in downtown Augusta on Memorial Day to benefit the Mills Foundation.

Travis Mills and his family started the foundation to bring veterans with disabilities, and their families, the chance to relax and bond in a totally accessible environment, through the help of adaptive equipment. The retreat will host 200 families free of charge this year thanks to fundraising such as the Annual Miles for Mills 5K.

Travis and his wife Kelsey started off by sending care packages to soldiers oversees and has grown into an incredibly impactful non-profit.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. of the 82nd Airborne, Travis Mills, is an exceptional human being who has helped and motivated many, directly and indirectly. While on his third tour of Afghanistan, Travis survived the explosion of an IED. But just barely. Travis lost both of his arms and both of his legs, but make no mistake, he's still a bad ass.

Travis not only founded the Travis Mills Foundation but has written a New York Times best selling memoir and is a powerful motivational speaker.

Cheer on the runners in Augusta tomorrow as we remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Learn more or make a donation at travismills.org.
