Today’s Blimp Time-Hop: 30th Anniversary of Oxford Dead Shows
On Saturday July 2, 1988, We took my red Volkswagen Rabbit held together by Dead stickers up Route 26 from Portland for two days of peace, love and music.
30 years ago today, the Grateful Dead and Little Feat played the first of two historic nights at Oxford Plains Speedway.
80,000 Deadheads had tix, while it was estimated that nearly 500,000 showed up for the tribal gathering. It was Maine’s own Woodstock! The weather was great, the scene was still very cool, and the Grateful Dead played what would be their last shows in Maine. Best weekend evah!
Watch Set 2 from Night 1! Sounds incredible!
Here's everything they played on the first magical night!
