Alabama Getaway was one of the the 'new' tracks spinning on the Blimp at the time. We imagine it started up the show with a roar for 8,000ish Deadheads at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
While we totally understand, it is definitely a bummer. We are sure that our Northeast Deadheads were looking forward to the healing power of a live music experience with Bobby, John, Mickey, Billy, Oteil and Jeff.
It's very cool that Portland Deadheads got to hear a new song called Touch of Grey almost 5 years before it was recorded. It was how they started the second set that night and you can listen to it here.

38 years ago today, the Grateful Dead made their second sold-out appearance at the Civic Center in Portland. The ‘circus’ came back to town on May 11, 1980.
33 years ago, the ‘circus’ was back on the 'eve of' and 'day of' April Fools in Portland, Maine. The Grateful Dead returned to the Cumberland County Civic Center for the fifth time and and their first two-night stand.
Deadheads came together for a candle-light vigil on Monument Square. We set up the PA on our patio overlooking the heart of the city. The sweet, magical music Jerry had given us for 30 years was filling the air under a bright, beautiful moon.
On Saturday July 2, 1988, I drove my red Volkswagen Rabbit held together by Dead stickers up Route 26 from Portland for two days of peace, love and music.
