Legendary Rock Star Surprisingly Joins the Growing Support for Maine’s Portland Hearts of Pine Soccer Team
It's been absolutely electrifying to see the level of excitement for Maine's new sports franchise, the Portland Hearts of Pine.
The expansion soccer team is officially underway in its inaugural season, which has already seen its first win in a tournament and its first-ever point in league play.
Portland Hearts of Pine is Off to a Wonderful Start in their Inaugural Season
On top of those results, the entire home schedule has nearly sold out, with over a month still to go before the first game is played at Portland's Fitzpatrick Stadium. I'm not sure a team could have a better start to its first season. Oh, I know—let's add some celebrities into the mix.

That's exactly what happened recently when the Hearts had a cameo from one of the best guitarists of his generation, showing off his brand new gear.
Legendary Guitarist Tom Morello Shows Support for Portland Hearts of Pine
That would be the world-famous Tom Morello. You may have heard of a few of the bands he's been in, like Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. He's even toured with Bruce Springsteen. The man is an absolute legend, so to see him rocking Hearts of Pine gear is pretty badass.
The reel was posted right before the Hearts of Pine's road game over the weekend, a draw against FC Naples. The post drew considerable excitement and attention, which makes sense, since, you know, it's Tom Morello.
This reel is just another example of the massive excitement surrounding Maine's newest franchise. Hearts of Pine has awakened a sleeping giant of a fanbase, one that has no intention of going back to bed.
As for Morello, I'd like to personally invite him to a game this summer. He's more than welcome to sit with me and watch Hearts of Pine wreak havoc on some poor foe. I realize he might be busy touring the world, but if he can find the time, I'll pay for the ticket.
Portland Hearts of Pine continue their U.S. Open Cup and regular-season away games in April before the highly anticipated regular-season home opener at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland on Sunday, May 4.
It can't come soon enough.
