A little while back, I got a call for a request on the Blimp Happy Hour. It was from a loyal Blimpster by the name of John Rogers. John is a fisherman. He spends many hours away from home out on the boat. One of the things that keeps him connected to home, is listening to WBLM all day while he's hard at work.

When he called recently to hear a tune, he let me know he was headed back down to the Seacoast of New Hampshire after spending some time up home with his son. He also let me know what kind of fishing he was about to get back to. And that was scallop dragging.

I knew Johnny was a hard working Blimpster. But now I learned that he was one of the toughest of the tough. Scallop dragging is very demanding work. Johnny's phone call reminded me of an article we featured about a year ago.

Meet Erik Waterman Captain of the N/V Sea Star outta Spruce Head. Eric and his crew do all kinds of commercial fishing on the coast of Maine throughout the year.

In the winter months, they are on the hunt for sea scallops. So much intense effort  on the unsteady ocean is gone through to make sure we can enjoy some pan seared beauties at some fancy restaurant.

A good attitude and a sense of humor is essential. No lack of that with these guys!

Hosted by Brunswick native Teagan Wright, the Facebook series took us all over Vacationland to visit the folks that help make our state the best place on Earth.

And this guy did it all, created directed and presented the show. Not only did he host, he also got right into the sometimes dirty and dangerous work along with the people Mainers features.

Man we miss this series! We hear Teagan is off doing other adventures right now. Hopefully, From Away is something he'll bring back in the future. It's a really great show!
