One of our favorite nonprofit organizations here at Townsquare Media Portland is MAMM. The Maine Academy of Modern Music. MAMM is Maine's School of Rock. They are amazing music educators and have grown to be statewide in the last few years. As with everything else, things changed drastically for MAMM when COVID hit. MAMM was super-nimble and found new ways to keep kids rocking through remote learning and safe in-person programs such as summer camps, ensembles, and chorus rehearsals.  Nothing stops Rock and Roll!

They are now holding their annual "Chords for Kids" fundraiser. Usually, a huge rocking gala at Aura, this year it's a virtual fundraiser....but it still ROCKS!

From Jeff Shaw, the Executive Director and Founder of MAMM:

"Chords For Kids is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It enables MAMM to continue our mission of serving at-risk and underserved youth all over the state.
This year MAMM partnered with the SMCC's media department to film our student bands performing live onstage at Aura. "

MAMM is a certified 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Arts Organization and serves over 1500 low-income and at-risk students statewide annually.

Watch these kids rock at the Chords for Kids Virtual Fundraiser. Check out RUST with their cover of Heart's "Barracuda".

Over the next few weeks, MAMM wants to raise $50,000 to provide scholarships for more Maine kids to safely access quality music enrichment programs through MAMM.
