After 65 Years in Business, Anjon’s in Scarborough Has Closed
A sign on the door at Anjon’s Italian Restaurant at 521 Route 1 in Scarborough let patrons know that the restaurant has closed permanently after 65 years of serving up delicious Italian food.
Some would say that their red sauce was the best in New England.
According to the Press Herald, it was back in March when co-owner John DiSanto said increased competition in the area had put the squeeze on business at the landmark restaurant and back in 2017 they had fallen on some hard times with an illness in the family and some back tax problems.
The owners of Anjon's, the DiSanto family, couldn't be reached for comment Saturday, according to the article.
So the building is now shuttered and the sign on the door reads "Thank You for 65 years of business, The DiSanto Family."
