Today we celebrate another great concert from long, long ago in Blimpville. 33 years have past since George Thorogood brought the live boogie back to Portland with the Destroyers on the Born to Be Bad tour on March 7, 1988.

With 7 trips to Maine over the years from 1981 to 2016, this was his first of two appearances at the Civic Center.  His second and last show there was on the Boogie People tour in 1991.

The first George Thorogood concert in Portland happened at the Expo on April 4, 1985. George's earliest trip to Maine was to Saco back in November of 1981 on his 50 States In 50 Days Tour.

I remember having the honor of being allowed going onstage to welcome the thousands of people before the first ever performance at the CCCC from George and the Destroyers.

It's always an adrenaline rush being in front of thousands of Blimpsters, that's for sure. The reason I was authorized to step up to the center mic was because I had the very cool privilege of bringing along a big framed-piece of  memorabilia to show-off in the spotlight.

It was carrying a rare collectible that was a larger version of the Born To Be Bad album cover kindly autographed by George Thorogood. We gave that fantastic prize away to a lucky Blimpster the next day on the WBLM Morning Show.

You Talk Too Much was the new song spinning on the Blimp back in '88.

Now let's friggin' zip it and crank this the hell up.

Oh yeah. Happy Belated Birthday too! George Thorogood celebrated the BIG 7-0 on February 24th.
