33 years ago today, Heart played live at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Ann and Nancy, the lovely Wilson sisters returned to Portland for the 6th time on June 26 1987.

After moving to their new label Capitol Records in 1985 they released the self-titled album Heart. This was the album that put them back on top with tracks like What About Love, Never and These Dreams

The follow-up album Bad Animals was released in May of ’87 and went all the way to number 2. As I remember, Whitney Houston’s Whitney kept Heart out of the top spot.

The new power ballad Alone was in heavy rotation on the Blimp by the time they arrived at the CCCC. Heart Bad Animals went on to sell over 3 million copies in the US according to the RIAA.

Watch Alone performed live in Hollywood, Florida in December of 1987. This was obviously a time way before cellphone recording.

So, major props to the person who risked having their expensive video camera confiscated by security to get this awesome footage.

This is how we like to hear it best. Ann Wilson belting it out as only she can with a fantastic group playing at full power. The boys in the band were Mark Andes on Bass Denny Carmassi on Drums, and Howard Leese on Guitar. (left to right in top photo)

The show here in Portland was the first night of the Bad Animals tour. We haven't come across a setlist published for it. But we're pretty confident it looked like this one from the next one, night two of the tour in Hartford.
