Blimp Time-Hop: Listen To The Ice Storm Aerosmith Show At CCCC

23 years ago, Aerosmith played a sold-out show at the Civic Center in Portland. This wasn’t just any full house rock show in Blimpville, this was in the beginning days of the wicked massive Ice Storm of 1998. 

Leave it to “pah-tee hah-dee” Maine rockers to brave the elements for a night of live Aerosmith. No way were they missing New England’s favorite band on the Nine Lives Tour.

There was a great opening act that night too. We got warmed up and ready for Steven, Joe, Tom, Brad, and Joey with a super talented young blues guitarist. His name is Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

At the time, WBLM was playing tracks from his second album, Trouble Is. The most popular song from that album being Blue On Black which remains a Blimpster favorite to this day.

Bet those kids in the front just wearing just a t-shirt were bummin’ when they stepped outside the Civic Center after the show. It was gettin' pretty messy while they were inside rockin' with the Bad Boys From Boston.

The show opens with the title track of Nine Lives, the 1997 album they were touring in support of.  Aerosmith finishes the night with a ridiculously fantastic Sweet Emotion that also includes a little Zep. What a time we had!
