Blimp Time-Hop: Rush Brings ‘Grace Under Pressure’ To Portland
We've got a couple of Rush milestones to celebrate today.
First of all...let's remember the great Neil Peart who's birthday was this weekend. He would have been 68 on Saturday. Neil was born on September 12, 1952.
His drumming is super technically proficient and his lyrics are super cerebral. That’s why we call him "The Professor" and always will. Sadly, we started off 2020 with the terrible news that we had lost Neil Peart on January 7 to brain cancer.
Neil was of course the insanely talented drummer and principal songwriter for Rush since joining the band in 1974. 10 years later, "The Professor" arrived with Rush in Portland, Maine for the second time.
It was 36 years ago today, that Neil, Geddy, and Alex rocked the Civic Center on the Grace Under Pressure tour, September 14, 1984.
Here's New World Man from the Grace Under Pressure album recorded live one week after the concert here in Portland on September 21, 1984. This was at their homecoming show in Toronto.
