Hundreds of athletes from all over the state came together to compete at Sugarloaf last week for the 2020 Maine Special Olympics Winter Games.

On hand with lots of terrific volunteers who are there to help make the the 3 day event a big success, are the Maine Game Wardens.

According to the Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Facebook page,

"They attend all three days of the games and assist primarily by towing athletes competing in the sit-ski event to the top of the racecourse with snowmobiles."

Check out these powerful pictures they shared from the Special Olympics. There's a smile on one child, about to be towed up the slope, that is just gold.

It is also a very moving moment captured during the opening ceremonies with the Maine Game Wardens gathered for a salute. What a beautiful way to honor our Special Olympians.
