Portland, Maine lost a quiet and humble soul with immense musical talent last Thursday. Fans friends and family were shocked and saddened to hear news of the passing of horn player, Dave Noyes of Rustic Overtones.

WBLM's sister station WCYY has been with Rustic since the 90s. Their visits to our studios and patio shows over the years, brought along the blessing of being in the presence of Dave. His gentle demeanor and kind smile along with his incredible musical talent will stay with us forever.

Tony McNaboe was on the Rustic Overtones journey with Dave as the band's drummer and 'brother' for many, many years in the classic line-up. He as you can well imagine has been hit very hard by the untimely passing of someone so close. All who love him will want to see and hear this achingly beautiful song Tony has written in his honor.

Here's Tony's message to all on Facebook.

"My Tribute to Dave Noyes - I haven't been sleeping very well lately (or doing very well for that matter but I know I'll be okay in time) so I decided just to spend the overnight making music in the studio that we had shared together all these years.. By daybreak, I had written this song - both to him and about him.. Maybe I'll actually record and present it properly someday. For now, it's offered with all of it's flaws and emotional rawness, both as my tribute to my friend and hopefully, also as some words, sentiments and musings that might help someone else in this city grieve in the coming week(s). I know he wouldn't have played the resolve. I almost hung it on the F#... but I needed it."

Thank you from all us, Tony. And Dave, "You are loved."

Rustic Overtones will be playing a show with Anna Lombard & Friends at Aura in Portland on Thursday March 14th to benefit Tim Butterworth. Come out to help Tim and remember Dave.
