Watch Robert Plant’s Absolutely Stunning Performance In Austin
Lately he has been making beautiful music with a fantastic band called the Sensational Space Shifters. He has also worked with bluegrass star Alison Krauss in ’07. Their album Raising Sand won 5 Grammy awards in 2009.
And oh yeah, do we even need to remind you that he’s the voice of Led Zeppelin? Didn’t think so. Robert Plant turns 72 today.
Thankfully, he did make one trek to Portland 30 years ago in the summer of 1990 on his Manic Nirvana tour. It is still baffling to us that this show wasn't a sellout. Crazy, right?
It was an incredible night for us at the Cumberland County Civic Center. We were even dazzled with 5 Led Zeppelin songs. This was as close as it got for those of us in the crowd to experiencing live Zep in our town. That moment was and of course the time when Jimmy Page played his one and only Portland show 2 years before on November 11, 1988. His Maine stop on the Outrider tour, also unbelievably wasn't a sellout.
It will forever be an indelible memory in the rock concert history of Maine.
Robert Plant has been making music for well over 50 years now and is still sounding incredible with that out-of-this-world vocal range.
WBLM celebrates the Golden God on his birthday. We will forever be faithful fans.
Watch this absolutely stunning performance of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You from the Austin City Limits series on PBS.
