When we think of of great rock vocalists, names like Robert Plant or Freddie Mercury are likely to immediately come to mind. Happy Birthday to one of the great vocalists that is sometimes undeservingly forgotten.

Steve Winwood turns 72 today. Not only is he one of the best singers in our lifetime, he also kills it on the Hammond B3, piano and guitar.

To my knowledge, he can play just about any instrument. Steve Winwood sang and played everything on his solo albums in the early 80s.

Here's the what Steve Winwood played for Portland on that magical summer night. This was his second Maine appearance. He also played the Ballpark in OOB back in August of 1988 on the Roll With It tour.
