Lots of chatter this week with U2 shock-releasing a new album on us; "Songs of Innocence." Even more shocking was HOW they did it...in tandem with the release of the new Iphone and Apple Watch. The album was automatically downloaded into 500 million ITunes user's libraries. Some were NOT happy with the move.  I was not surprised one bit with the move. Spend 10 minutes with Bono..as I did a few years back in Boston at their intimate Sommerville Theatre show, and you'll quickly find out that:

1) He drinks Maragaritas.

2) He is the MOST ambitious person that you will ever meet.  Bono hated playing the tiny Sommerville Theatre. It reminded him of the era when U2 could only play theaters, He wants to play the biggest stadium you can find for him. He would do a show on the Moon if he could do it. And he has a look in his eye that he'll do anything to make something like that happen.  So, I'm not surprised that Bono would jump at the chance to have 500 MILLION people hear his band's new album. It's really no wonder U2 became the biggest band in the world!

What do you think? Is this a cool, ambitious and new way for artists to get their music out OR is U2 (and Apple) force-feeding us content we don't want? Personally, I'm a fan...of both the band and of new ways for artists to reach audiences. Give us your comments below or on Facebook and Twitter: #bonolovesmargaritas.
