I love any experience that makes me feel as if I've moved back through time, Le Village Historique Acadien was beautifully authentic! This is Bernie the Blacksmith; part philosopher, part artist, part tool maker. I could have listened to him all day, he has such a beautiful accent! He hammered out some square nails for us and explained that only the wealthy could afford them. If someone really wanted to showboat they would use nails as accent decorations on their doors! How obnoxious!

You know that saying, "Sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite"? It was referring to tightening the ropes of the bed frame, and the bugs they mentioned were the ones living in the straw that was used as a mattress!

I thought that this was really interesting, someone had started a rug using a feed bag. Everything was recycled, so they would use was a bit of wool and old clothes to make these rugs. Look how beautiful the handwork is!
